Thoughts On The Chunky Sneaker Trend (+ 3 Spring Tops Under $15)
Look #1: Brunch With The Girls
The chunky sneaker (or "dad sneaker") has hit the fashion industry with a bang. It was after New York Fashion Week 2018 when I started to see this bold trend everywhere. So I jumped on the bandwagon with these Elias Chunky Trainer in White from EGO. While this style is sold out, the brand is offering quite a few other chunky sneaker options, with the Kim being the most similar. At first I was scared of a few things; 1) They would be difficult to style, and 2) They would be difficult to walk in. Luckily, neither of these were true!
I was able to style the sneakers quite easily. They go with just about any casual denim + tee outfit, like with the Pink Cactus Tee in Look #2 and the Lettered Tee in Look #3. But surprisingly, they can also be paired with a nicer blouse, like the Yellow Off-The Shoulder beauty that I'm wearing in Look #1. By the way, all three of these tops I'm wearing in today's blog post are under $15 at SheIn.com! What a steal right? Stay tuned because I'll definitely be styling these sneakers in different ways as the spring season progresses!
Aside from being versatile and obviously on-trend, they are also surprisingly comfortable. I mean really comfortable! I wore them last week to walk around Philadelphia (a total of approximately 20 blocks) and I had no complaints. Additionally, since I'm on the short side, I don't mind that these chunky trainers give me an extra few inches! The only slightly negative thing about these new favorite kicks of mine is that they are all white, even the sole, so you have to be pro-active about wiping them down. Other than that, they're pretty much perfect. And if you're the kind of person who can't wear white sneakers, EGO offers a ton of chunky sneakers in may colors (and for unbeatable prices) so that you can give this trend a go!
