4 Trends That Make Playing Dress Up Even More Fun

Summer is definitely my favorite time to play dress up! It's the season for pretty prints, bright colors, and showing off that tan! Today I'm sharing 4 of my favorite trends that are hot hot hot right now..

1. Polka Dots

Fun prints are a big thing come summer season. But I feel like polka dots just recently came out of no where. They weren't super popular the past few years but this season they made a huge comeback.  I hopped on the banwagon with this Loft "dress" -- it looks like a dress, but it's really a romper so I don't have to worry about Marilynn Monroe-ing people all over the street. Unfortunately, I can't find this exact piece online, but you can try your luck by visiting a Loft store near you! Alternatively, I'm linking up some awesome polka dot apparel, most of which is on sale, at the end of this bog post for you to easily shop!

2. Tassel Earrings

I've been seeing tassel earrings everywhere lately, and I was feeling a little left out to be honest. However, I'm always weary of purchasing earrings from just anywhere. For example, a few weeks ago I bought J.Crew earrings and the gold started to turn brown/pink within just 2 days of wearing them. So this time, I hit up my talented friend, Latisha of TISH Jewelry, who creates quality jewelry without the insane mark up. As soon as these Pink Silk Tassel Earrings came in the mail, it was love at first sight. The tassel is made with a silky soft silk and the gold plated metal has yet to turn color on me. Any chance I can get, I'm wearing these beauties. And how could I not! They add a pop of color that every summer outfit could use. In fact, if you follow along with my Insta Story, you may just see them make an appearance today. And if pink isn't your color, these earrings come in several different colors so be sure to check out the rest of her collection to find something that's the right fit for you!

3. The Bamboo Bag

Dudes, the bamboo bag is a must must must! I wore this all last summer, and this summer will be no different. This accessory somehow has the ability of making any ensemble look like it was hand picked by the world's most popular fashion blogger. And because it's made of bamboo wood, it screams summertime! I got mine from a small boutique, but after doing some research I think the best one for quality and price (based on the 500+ reviews) would have to be this one

4. Tiny Sunglasses

In the mid 2000's, enormous sunglasses were the only cool way to shade your eyes. If you didn't look bug-eyed, you weren't cool. But oh how the tables have turned! It's not like large sunglasses are completely a thing of the past, but tiny sunglasses are giving them a run for their money. The half frame shades I'm wearing in today's post are under $9 and are one of my go-to's for styling outfits on BTFL. If you're in the market, both Zaful and Forever 21 have an exentensive collection of trendy sunglasses!

Sale Alert: Sandals + Swimwear

If you're in the market for cute sandals and bright swimwear, you are in luck my friend! There are two sales going on right now that you need to know about.

1.  Restricted Shoes - 50% off Full-Priced Styles with code GOGO50

Some of my favorite summer sandals are from Restricted Shoes. In my closet you'll find the Atlantic in BlackAverie in Navy, and the Averie in Red. Each are regularly $50 at full price but from now until 6/15, you can snag them for only $25 by using code GOGO50! However, if you end up placing an order after 6/15, then feel free to use my discount code BESTTRENDSFORLIFE25 for 25% off (good till 7/15). Regarding size, I'm normally a size 7.5 in boots/sneakers and a size 7 in sandals -- I went with a size 7 in all my Restricted sandals and they are a perfect fit. Featured in today's post is the Averie in Red, which features a gingham print, a bright hue, and bowtie design. These slides are a stunning addition to a summer ensemble, and surprisingly comfortable. I just wore them today to walk about Philly and I have no complains.  You really cannot get much better for $25 am I right?

2. Zaful - Bikini Sets Under $17

Ordering swimwear online is risky, I know! But when a whole bikini set is under $17 it's hard to pass up. And that's exactly what happened when I was putting together that Zaful order from my Revamp Your Summer Wardrobe For Under $150 blog post. I couldn't help but to give it a try. Zaful is offering an insane amount of swimwear on sale ranging from $11 to $21, most of which clocks in at $17 or under! And then on top of these already low prices, Zaful always has discount codes to use at check out. For example, I found this code, ZF4THRMN18, for 18% off just by googling "Zaful Coupons". Today, I'm featuring two Zaful bikinis -- the Yellow Bowtie Ribbed Bikini and the Green Print Knotted High Cut Bikini, both of which I snagged for under $17 with the use of coupons. I'm still in shock over how nice they are for the price. The material is comfortable and is thick enough to prevent translucency when wet. Also, the tops both came with light padding that can be easily removed if desired. My favorite part however, is the knotted design that is featured in both bikini tops! This is a very popular style right now. What's more is that this style top is comfortable and secure enough to partake in athletic beach activites! Regarding size, I ordered a size small which fits me really well (both top and bottom). I could not be happier with these swimsuits and would definitely recommend you give them a try. Before placing your own order, be sure to read my tips and tricks for shopping at Zaful!

Zaful Summer Try On Haul - Part 1

Outfit #1

Outfit #1 Details: Dress // Sneakers // Purse // Sunglasses

It's officially summer now! And I cannot think of a better way to celebrate than by sharing with you the online order from my "Revamp Your Summer Wardrobe For Under $150" blog post. If you didn't have a chance to read that post, the jist of it is that Zaful.com offers an incredible amount of trendy options for remarkable prices, allowing one to purchase a new summer wardrobe without breaking the bank. So I put together an order to prove it to you, and now that order has come in the mail! I was able to conjure up 8 outfits from this one order and will be sharing outfits 1-4 in today's post (5-8 will be coming soon).

Let's start with Outfit #1, above. This Cami Back Bowtie Cut Out Striped Dress is everything and a bag of chips. The straight cut dress design (very 90's) is a hot commodity right now. You'll see this trend in nearly any shop you enter, but you probably won't find it for under $18. (Before paying full price, be sure to read through my previous blog post for tips and tricks for shopping at Zaful!) Not only is this dress a great price, it was also a quality purchase. A size small fit me perfectly and it wasn't too see through (although you will need to wear nude colored underwear).

Outfit #2

Outfit #2 Details: Jumpsuit // Flats (similar) // Fanny Pack // Sunglasses

Now on to Outfit #2, this elegant Low Cut Striped Sleeveless Jumpsuit. This is my favorite item from the entire order. The low cut is flattering, but it's not too deep that I have to worry about accidentally flashing anyone. The attached slip works to prevent the jumpsuit from being too see-through. And the thin, light yellow, vertical stripes are absolutely adorable! I think the color pairs well with just about any other bright summer hue, like the periwinkle of this Kate Spade Belt Bag. Although this item is nearly sold out, Zaful offers a bunch of striped rompers and jumpsuits to choose from.

Outfit #3

Outfit #3 Details: Top // Shorts // Sneakers // Fanny Pack // Sunglasses

This third outfit is a little more on the sporty side. I've paired these Khaki High Waisted Shorts with this Striped Cropped Tank Top, along with my Kate Spade Belt Bag to create quite the contrast. While I was not expecting these shorts to be so shiny, I was happily surprised by their versatility in being paired with a variety of tops. Not to mention, they're so incredible comfortable. This item was a "one size fits all" kind-of-deal due to the elasticity of the band. But for reference, Im usually a size 4 in bottoms, and these shorts fit perfectly. Meanwhile, for the top I went with a size small and I'm really happy with it. This top is definitely a wardrobe staple. The simple black and white pattern lends itself to being paired with almost anything.

Outfit #4

Outfit #4 Details: Romper // Tank // Sneakers // Purse // Sunglasses

Last but not least is Outfit #4. I've layered this Button Embellished Romper with this Ribbed Cropped Tank Top (which you'll see in outfit #6, featured in my next post). This romper is adorable by itself, but it shows a little too much skin for my comfort, and the straps are not the most secure. Therefore, I think it looks best layered with another top underneath so as to prevent any accidental flashing. While this was one of my least favorite of the bunch, I'm still really happy with this item for two main reasons - the fabric feels like quality material and the tie strap design is a super cute trend right now! I ordered a size small, which fits comfortably. All in all, I still recommend this item as long as you're open to the possibility of having to layer it.

Stay tuned for outfits 5-8 coming soon! And before placing your own order, be sure to read through my previous blog post for tips and tricks for shopping at Zaful!

Revamp Your Summer Wardrobe For Under $150 + My Tricks For Online Shopping (At Zaful)

Summer is just around the bend people! Which means we've all got to get our summer wardrobes ready. To help you out, I documented my very own online shopping session to demonstrate how easy it is to get all summer essentials without breaking the bank. Below I've included the screen shots of an online order from Zaful (one of my favorite places to shop online). This is one of the best boutiques to find inexpensive apparel. As you can see, I was able to order a couple of dresses, a jumpsuit, a romper, a few tops + shorts, and last but not least, some bathing suits! All for just under $150. And even though I just went with basic designs, they also have a ton for floral options which are great for summer.

But before you place your very own order, there are a few tricks that I've learned from all my online shopping experience on this website that you should know about..

1. Pay special attention to the size guide. You can find the measurements for a size by scrolling over each size selection or by clicking on the "size guide" link. This is really important because the measurements for each size change for every item.

2. Look for reviews (at the bottom of the listing) by previous buyers to get a better feel for how it looks in person. This can also help you determine if the item runs true to size or not, since most people include such information in their reviews.

3. Take a look at the promotions they have going on. For example, they have Buy 1, Get 1 30% Off, and Buy 4, Get 1 Free, and Buy 2, Get 20% Off or Buy 3, Get 30% Off all going on right now.

4. Zaful always has coupons! Always! And if you don't see one being advertised at the top of the homepage, simply google "Zaful Coupons" to see what pops up. Try a few until you find the best one. In my case, the code MOM513 was being advertised on Zaful, and that was the best I could find at that time. It got me an extra $20 off on top of the discounts from the promotions!

If you're diggin' the products that I've put together below, just scroll to the very end of the blog post to find them all linked up under "Shop This Post."

The Latest Trend in Shorts

One of the hottest trends is the shorts game this season is the high-waist paper bag waistband. What the heck do I mean by "paper bag"? Someone decided that these waistbands, which feature a scrunchy or ruffled elastic waist, resemble that of a plastic bag. Name aside, I never really enjoyed wearing shorts until I tried out this style of shorts, namely the Martha Short, by Cut From The Same Cloth. I kid you not, these are literally the best pair of shorts I have ever owned! They're made with quality fabric, they accentuates the smallest part of the waist offering a flattering silhouette, and most importantly, they are hella comfortable! I've actually worn this exact outfit twice already in the past two weeks. I know I know.. the "Lizzie Maguire, you are an outfit repeater!" scene popped into my brain too. I just cannot get enough of these shorts (and this top, clearly since I keep wearing them together). To add some texture to the ensemble, I've paired the shorts with the Crinkle Satin Top, from Peridot Boutique, which is another piece I've been crushing on. Although I've been wearing them a lot with this top a lot, these shorts are so versatile they could go with just about any top as long as it can be tucked in. So moral of the story is.. if you're like old-me and are generally not a "shorts-person" I suggest you try out this trend because it just might change your mind!
